Visiting Doug in Wisconsin

This is Doug's house that we stayed at in Wisconsin (front & side view). Doug is a friend of ours from the orphanage in Mexico we were at over 10 years ago (we met there). Doug's been out to visit us in B.C. twice so we thought it was time we checked out his world. Doug is working at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission (kind of like a union gospel mission). He gave us a tour of the ministry there and what God is doing in changing the lives of the people that come to them needing food/shelter, etc. He is involved with the homeless men that come to get food and a place to sleep and many times they receive new hope in Christ, too, which is the really exciting part of the ministry God has placed him in there.

We enjoyed a real Wisconsin tradition of the Friday Fish Fry (yum!) in a gorgeous setting outside by the lake, with 2 of Doug's friends joining us for dinner. Some other highlights of our time in Wisconsin were walking on the sandy beach of Lake Michigan, eating delicious frozen custard, touring the House on the Rock, watching fire flies, etc. The abundance of old character homes and antiques were fun to look at, too.

We made it back home in 2 days driving from Wisconsin! 15-16 hours to Sask, then another 15 or so home.
